Great prices and unbeatable service

Getting an outstanding price for your scrap car is one thing – but without great service, the whole process can be time-consuming and difficult. That’s why, at Car.co.uk, we make sure our customer care is as good as our prices.

The commitment to great service starts with our collections. We know you probably don’t want to try to deliver your car to a scrap yard – and we’re sure you don’t want to pay for a costly recovery service. So, our collections are totally free of charge – and we’ll schedule picking your car up for a time that suits your day.

When your car’s ready to leave, we’ll even make sure you’re supported to fill out all your paperwork too. Our collection partner’s driver will help you complete your V5C document and explain which part needs to be returned to the DVLA.

From start to finish, we’re certain there’s no easier way to scrap your car anywhere in the UK.

We support UK charities

Despite numerous road safety campaigns, the number of accidents occurring on West Yorkshire’s roads remains the same as it was a decade ago. In fact, accidents in the county are estimated to cost taxpayer-funded services over £388 million each year – a figure that breaks down to be nearly £171 per taxpaying resident.

At Car.co.uk, we directly support charities and good causes that work towards easing the strain on local authorities. From supported living homes for vulnerable adults – to crime reduction schemes – part of the profit that your car helps us to generate mean we can continue to provide this life-changing support.

How do scrap cars help us change people's lives?

At Car.co.uk, we transform scrap cars into funding for social value projects

Scrap cars and charity work might not be two things you think go hand-in-hand – but, at Car.co.uk, we're trying to change that.

When you choose our service to recycle your vehicle and find scrap car buyers in West Yorkshire – you don't just get an amazing price – you also get to know that you're directly supporting a number of social value initiatives around the country.

A portion of the profit that your car generates will go towards running:

  • HMP Academies
  • Food redistribution networks
  • Assisted living services

As well as the people who are directly supported by these initiatives, the positive impact they have on communities spreads far and wide – reducing crime rates, easing the strain on the emergency services, and allowing tax money to be channelled to the areas in which it's most urgently needed.

Frequently asked questions

Not sure about a particular part of the scrapping process? Don’t worry, we’ve listed some of our FAQs here – and if there’s something we haven’t covered, you’re welcome to get in touch using our instant messenger service.

To make a SORN (Statutory Off-Road Notification), you’ll need to contact the DVLA, by either downloading and completing the appropriate forms from their website, or making a declaration online.

Yes, we can. Each of our scrap collection partners has the means to move a car that cannot be unlocked or started. Please let the scrap yard you’re dealing with know if this is going to be the case.

Yes, they do. From small vans to large commercial and agricultural vehicles, our well-equipped scrap partners have the means to collect a massive range of vehicles.

Don’t worry – although the law states that someone needs to be with your car, it doesn’t have to be the registered keeper or owner. If you plan to nominate someone else to with the car when it’s picked up, they’ll need to show the collection driver a form of photo ID. Also, if you can’t provide the V5C log book with the car, they’ll also need to provide a proof of address.

For log books issued before April 2019, you should complete section 9 before returning it to the DVLA. For log books created on or after this date, you should complete section 4 of the form. Don’t worry if you’re unsure at any point – our collection driver will be happy to assist on the day.

No, absolutely not. You’re under no obligation to sell your car. The only thing we ask is that you give us as much notice as possible if you’re planning to cancel your appointment, so we can prevent anyone making any unnecessary collection trips.
