Highly recommend - 10/10 service
Whole process was really easy and completely fuss free from start to finish. Entered my postcode and registration online and was given a price straight away without having to sign up to anything. The price offered was better than anywhere else. Selected a date and time that suited me for collection and booked in a matter of minutes. Really clear information was given about the collection process via email. Collection day arrived and the guy who came was really friendly. Quick check of the car, loaded onto the truck and received the money within minutes. I would highly recommend this company as it was so easy, no hidden terms and conditions and an all round great experience.

Very easy transaction.
Very easy transaction. Easy to book, collection person phoned to say exactly what time they were arriving. I just left him to it and collection took around 10 mins including taking photos of my id and the car. Sad to see my car go as its been a really good car but too much wrong with it now. Payment was not immediate, took around an hour and a half. No fuss, no sweat, very easy.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

First class company
There's a very good reason why this company has such a high trust pilot rating, and it's not because of bots or ai fake reviews!! It's nice to leave a good review for a genuinely well run and professional outfit. Firstly , they offer the best price. Secondly , no sucking in of air or false advertising, put in reg, they give you a price, simple.... The pick up driver Shaun was very polite, concise and to the point. From begining to end a good experience, and a well deserved reputation.

Scrap my car in Halifax FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Halifax?
Dropdown Icon

The average price for a scrap car in Halifax is £288. This price is based on weight, condition, make and model, as well as current scrap metal prices and whether the vehicle has more value as salvage than just recycling. Check our latest scrap car prices and enter your registration to get a quote in under 30 seconds.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Halifax?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be present in person when we collect your scrap car in Halifax. You can ask someone else to hand over the vehicle on your behalf, as long as they're over 18 and have access to the keys and all the required paperwork. We'll confirm everything beforehand so the handover goes smoothly and hassle free.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook, but you'll need photo ID, proof of address and any supporting paperwork like MOT certificates and service history in its place. Keep in mind that the scrapping process can take slightly longer without the logbook because we need to confirm ownership before collection goes ahead.

How do I avoid scrap car scams in Halifax?
Dropdown Icon

Scrap car scams are a genuine risk in Halifax, so always avoid cash-in-hand deals, unlicensed collectors and last-minute price drops on collection day. Legitimate payments are only ever made by bank transfer under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. Car.co.uk is the safer option, with a high Trustpilot rating from 15,000+ reviews.

What is the difference between scrapping and salvaging?
Dropdown Icon

Scrapping is when a vehicle is dismantled and recycled mainly for metal value under the ELV directive, usually when repair or resale no longer makes financial sense. Salvaging is when the vehicle still holds enough value to be sold complete or broken down for usable parts. Car.co.uk always assesses both routes to choose the best outcome for you.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Halifax?
Dropdown Icon

To scrap your car in Halifax, you'll need the vehicle's V5C log book, photo ID and proof of address. If you don't have the V5C logbook, you can still proceed with alternative supporting paperwork like MOT records and service history.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request one, we'll issue a Certificate of Destruction within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles DVLA notifications, and the CoD removes you from the DVLA register, ending further responsibility for the vehicle.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, all outstanding finance must be settled before you can scrap your car, unless the finance company gives their permission for the vehicle to be disposed of. Lenders retain a legal interest while your agreement with them is still active, so check with them before booking. Once everything is sorted out, we'll help you move ahead with scrapping.

Which areas of Halifax do you cover?
Dropdown Icon

All postcodes within Halifax are covered for free scrap collection, including areas such as Illingworth, Mixenden, Ovenden and the town centre. Keep in mind that narrow roads and low bridges, such as the one on Water Lane/Bank Bottom, can delay collection.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

Payments are always made by bank transfer, never in cash. Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, it is prohibited to pay cash for cars. With Car.co.uk, the price you see is the price paid on collection, with no last-minute reductions, so you'll know exactly what you're going to be paid before the driver arrives.
