What is a car removal service?
A car removal service is exactly what it sounds like: a service where someone comes to collect your vehicle from your location, usually when it’s no longer roadworthy or not worth keeping. And in our case, we do it for free and handle everything for you.
Once it’s collected, the vehicle is either scrapped or salvaged by one of our licensed ATF partners, and we make sure all the paperwork gets done with the DVLA. You get paid instantly on pickup, and it’s off your hands completely.
How do I recycle my car in the UK?
The proper way to recycle your car in the UK is through a licensed ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility). These are government-approved scrap yards that are legally allowed to dispose of end-of-life vehicles.
When you use a service like ours, we connect you directly with one of these ATFs. They’ll collect your car, dismantle it safely, recycle its usable parts and dispose of hazardous materials in line with environmental regulations.
Once it’s processed, they issue a Certificate of Destruction and we notify the DVLA so you’re no longer responsible for the vehicle.
What happens during car recycling?
First, the car is taken to the Authorised Treatment Facility where they de-pollute it. That means safely removing all the fluids (oil, coolant, brake fluid, fuel) and anything that could harm the environment.
Then, they strip out reusable parts like the engine, gearbox, catalytic converter, wheels and anything else they can sell or refurbish. After that, the remaining shell is crushed and sent off for metal recycling, where it’s shredded and turned into raw material that gets reused in manufacturing.
Once it’s all done, the ATF issues you a Certificate of Destruction, and we notify the DVLA that the vehicle’s been permanently taken off the road. This is an important final step that’s needed to make sure you’re not liable for anything after that.
How fast can you remove my unwanted car?
Pretty fast. In a lot of cases, we can have your car gone within 24 to 48 hours. Sometimes even the same day, depending on where you’re located and when you book.

How can I get rid of my car legally?

Do you provide a Certificate of Destruction?
Yes, if your vehicle is being scrapped through one of our licensed ATFs, you’ll receive a Certificate of Destruction (CoD). That’s your official proof from the DVLA that the car’s been permanently taken off the road.
Not everyone knows this, but the CoD is what legally ends your responsibility for the vehicle. Without it, you could still be liable for road tax, fines and even enforcement letters if someone misuses the car.

What paperwork do I need for car removal?
The main thing you’ll need is your V5C logbook, which is the vehicle’s registration document. It proves you’re the registered keeper and makes the DVLA transfer process super smooth.
You’ll also need a valid photo ID (like a driving licence or passport). ATFs will also ask for proof of address in order to meet the legal requirements under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act.
If you’ve lost your V5C, you can apply for a new one online using form V62. The process takes about 5 working days and costs £25.
Will you remove a car that doesn’t run?
