Great service
I recently had my old car collected and I couldn’t be happier with the service. From start to finish, everything was handled smoothly and I was kept informed throughout the whole process. The driver, Roy, was excellent – really friendly, professional, and informative, which made the whole experience easy and stress-free. The payment was transferred instantly upon collection, which was a huge plus. Overall, a fantastic service and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to scrap their car.

First class company
There's a very good reason why this company has such a high trust pilot rating, and it's not because of bots or ai fake reviews!! It's nice to leave a good review for a genuinely well run and professional outfit. Firstly , they offer the best price. Secondly , no sucking in of air or false advertising, put in reg, they give you a price, simple.... The pick up driver Shaun was very polite, concise and to the point. From begining to end a good experience, and a well deserved reputation.

We received a very competitive quote…
We received a very competitive quote from Car.co.uk for my car and from the start they were very efficient with their quote which was easy to understand. After accepting their quote they kept me fully informed of the procedure and made it clear and simple. We agreed a collection date and they arrived on time with two polite and helpful driver and assistant and they loaded my car and left very quickly. The agreed price was paid by Car.co.uk and the money was in my Bank before the driver left. I would highly recommend this Company.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

Scrap my car in Wakefield FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Wakefield?
Dropdown Icon

The average price paid in Wakefield for a scrap car is £292. The price depends on weight, condition, make, model and current metal prices, and vehicles with reusable parts or repair potential can be worth more as salvage than as scrap. For a live figure based on your exact vehicle, check our scrap car prices and get a quote in under 30 seconds.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Wakefield?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be present for the collection of your scrap car in Wakefield. Last-minute hike in the Yorkshire Dales? No problem for us. You can nominate another adult aged 18 or over to hand the vehicle over, and they should have access to the keys, any paperwork available and a photo ID for our records.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook. You'll usually need photo ID, proof of address and any supporting vehicle paperwork such as MOT certificates or service history. Checks can take slightly longer while ownership details are verified before collection and payment are arranged.

Can I scrap an electric or hybrid car in Wakefield?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap an electric or hybrid car in Wakefield. Car.co.uk accepts all fuel types including battery electric vehicles, hybrid cars, plug-in hybrids and mild hybrids, and battery removal or specialist handling is managed through the authorised treatment facility process in line with UK ELV regulations.

Do you accept commercial vehicles in Wakefield?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we accept vans and light commercial vehicles in Wakefield, including panel vans, pick-ups and minibuses. The quote process is the same as for a car; you simply enter the registration number and postcode. Bear in mind that many vans return a higher price because their greater kerb weight usually means more recyclable metal.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Wakefield?
Dropdown Icon

You'll need the V5C log book to scrap your car in Wakefield, along with a photo ID and proof of address. If the V5C is missing, you can still usually proceed with other supporting paperwork, such as MOT certificates or service history, and our team will guide you through the process to remain 100% compliant.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request one, we issue a Certificate of Destruction within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles the DVLA notification automatically, and once issued the CoD removes the previous owner from the DVLA register so further responsibility ends.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

Any outstanding finance must be settled first, or the finance company must give clear consent before the vehicle can be scrapped. The lender retains a legal interest in the car until the agreement is complete, so the next step is to contact them for a settlement figure or written permission. We can then explain what happens next and guide you through the process.

Can I scrap a car with no MOT in Wakefield?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car with no MOT in Wakefield. MOT status does not affect the scrap valuation or collection arrangements. It doesn't matter whether it failed for a missing indicator light or a faulty airbag; it's treated exactly the same as one with a current test, provided it can be accessed safely for pickup by the driver.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

Payment is made by bank transfer, not cash. Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, cash payments for scrap vehicles aren't allowed, and the price you see is the price paid on collection with no last-minute reductions, provided the vehicle matches the details given when you requested your quote.
