Quick Service and Instant Payment
I recently used a car scrapping service and was really impressed with how quick and straightforward the whole process was. From the moment I contacted them, everything was handled professionally. They arranged collection at a time that suited me, and the driver was polite and efficient. What really stood out was how quickly they transferred the payment — the money went straight into my bank account immediately after the car was collected. There was no hassle, no hidden fees, and everything was exactly as promised. If you’re looking for a smooth, no-stress way to scrap your car and get paid on the spot, I’d definitely recommend this service.

Highly recommend - 10/10 service
Whole process was really easy and completely fuss free from start to finish. Entered my postcode and registration online and was given a price straight away without having to sign up to anything. The price offered was better than anywhere else. Selected a date and time that suited me for collection and booked in a matter of minutes. Really clear information was given about the collection process via email. Collection day arrived and the guy who came was really friendly. Quick check of the car, loaded onto the truck and received the money within minutes. I would highly recommend this company as it was so easy, no hidden terms and conditions and an all round great experience.

Very easy transaction.
Very easy transaction. Easy to book, collection person phoned to say exactly what time they were arriving. I just left him to it and collection took around 10 mins including taking photos of my id and the car. Sad to see my car go as its been a really good car but too much wrong with it now. Payment was not immediate, took around an hour and a half. No fuss, no sweat, very easy.

First class company
There's a very good reason why this company has such a high trust pilot rating, and it's not because of bots or ai fake reviews!! It's nice to leave a good review for a genuinely well run and professional outfit. Firstly , they offer the best price. Secondly , no sucking in of air or false advertising, put in reg, they give you a price, simple.... The pick up driver Shaun was very polite, concise and to the point. From begining to end a good experience, and a well deserved reputation.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

Scrap my car in Huddersfield FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Huddersfield?
Dropdown Icon

The average price paid in Huddersfield for a scrap car is £285, although every vehicle is valued individually based on its weight, condition, make, model, current metal prices and salvage potential. Cars that have spent years navigating Huddersfield's steep roads, busy town routes and surrounding villages may still have reusable parts that increase their value beyond scrap alone. Get a live quote online in under 30 seconds.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Huddersfield?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be present for collection of your scrap car in Huddersfield. If you're out visiting Castle Hill or simply unavailable on the day, you can nominate another adult to hand the vehicle over instead. They must be over 18 and have identification plus any agreed paperwork, so the driver can complete the handover without delays.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook. We'll normally ask for photo ID, proof of address and any supporting paperwork such as MOT certificates or service history while ownership checks are completed. Many Huddersfield drivers keep vehicles for years around areas such as Lindley, Marsh and Birkby, so missing paperwork isn't unusual, and we'll guide you through the process before collection.

Do you accept commercial vehicles in Huddersfield?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we accept vans and light commercial vehicles in Huddersfield, including panel vans, pick-ups and minibuses. Getting your price works the same way as for a car, using your registration number and postcode. From builders' vans travelling between Huddersfield and surrounding Kirklees towns to delivery vehicles using the M62 and serving the town centre, many commercial vehicles return more because their greater kerb weight usually means a stronger scrap value.

Can I scrap an electric or hybrid car in Huddersfield?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, Car.co.uk accepts all fuel types, including EVs, hybrid cars, plug-in hybrids, mild hybrids and battery electric vehicles. As more Huddersfield motorists switch to lower-emission vehicles for commuting around Kirklees and along the M62, every end-of-life vehicle is processed through an authorised treatment facility, where battery removal and specialist handling are carried out safely and compliantly.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Huddersfield?
Dropdown Icon

You'll need your V5C logbook to scrap your car in Huddersfield, along with photo ID and proof of address. Missing paperwork doesn't always stop the sale, and if your V5C logbook has been lost we'll explain the alternative documents needed and guide the admin from start to finish. This is helpful for Huddersfield motorists with older vehicles that have spent years on the roads. We all know that paperwork can get lost over time.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request one, we issue a Certificate of Destruction within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles the DVLA notification automatically, and once issued, the CoD removes the previous owner from the DVLA register. This is when you can relax, knowing you're no longer responsible for the vehicle.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, outstanding finance must usually be settled first, or the finance company must give clear consent before the vehicle can be scrapped. Lenders keep a legal interest until the agreement ends, so check with them first. For Huddersfield motorists with financed vehicles used for daily commuting around Kirklees or along the M62, getting a settlement figure or written approval early helps avoid delays, and we'll explain what evidence is needed before you book.

Which areas of Huddersfield do you cover?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we cover all postcodes within Huddersfield, with free collection available from any address once your details are confirmed. From the town centre and Ainley Top to Lindley, Marsh, Birkby and the surrounding villages across Kirklees, we cover the wider Huddersfield area. Enter your postcode and we'll confirm availability straight away.

Can I scrap a car that is not registered in my name?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car that isn't registered in your name, although certain checks are required. The registered keeper should give written authority where possible, or you'll need to provide evidence explaining why you're entitled to dispose of the vehicle, such as inheritance or a gifted car. Whether the vehicle is in Huddersfield, Lindley, Marsh or elsewhere across Kirklees, Car.co.uk will explain exactly what's needed before collection.
