Quick and Convenient Vehicle Scrappage
This was a quick and easy way to scrap our old vehicle. The online evaluation check was useful and produced a similar price to what we expected. It only took a few moments to book a collection date and time, and this was confirmed via text and email. On collection day I was texted further confirmation and called by the driver to inform of his eta. The driver was informative and professional. The purchase was accepted and the payment okayed, with the money transferred immediately. Overall, and great service and would recommend.

They do what they say they do. Excellent.
I was contacted well in advance regarding the collection of my vehicle. Steve the driver phoned me and asked if he could collect sooner than booked. This was OK with me. When he arrived he was friendly and courteous and because of the advanced notification, gave me time to have everything ready for the handover. The money was transferred to my account within minutes. A great service and one that I would recommend to anyone wanting to dispose of a vehicle.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

The driver, Roy, was excellent – really friendly, professional, and informative, which made the whole experience easy and stress-free. The payment was transferred instantly upon collection, which was a huge plus. Overall, a fantastic service and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to scrap their car.

Scrap my car in Ashby-De-La-Zouch FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Ashby-De-La-Zouch?
Dropdown Icon

The average price of scrap cars in Ashby-De-La-Zouch is £270. The final price depends on the weight, condition, make and model of the vehicle, scrap metal prices at the time, and whether the vehicle has more value as salvage than scrap. Use our quote tool to check your scrap car value in under 30 seconds.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Ashby-De-La-Zouch?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be present when we collect your scrap car in Ashby-De-La-Zouch. You can nominate another person that's over 18 to hand the vehicle over, they'll just need photo ID, proof of address and all the required paperwork.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook. Photo ID, proof of address and supporting records such as MOT certificates or service history can be used to help verify ownership instead, although the process can take slightly longer while those details are checked.

What is the difference between scrapping and salvaging?
Dropdown Icon

Scrapping is when a vehicle is dismantled and recycled for its scrap metal value under the ELV directive. Salvaging is when a car still has enough value to be resold as a whole vehicle or broken down for usable parts. Car.co.uk always assesses both routes to ensure owners get the best deal.

Do I need to notify the DVLA when I scrap my car?
Dropdown Icon

No, Car.co.uk takes care of DVLA notifications as part of the Certificate of Destruction process. You only need to provide your V5C logbook details, and once the CoD is issued, you're removed from the register and all responsibility for the vehicle ends.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Ashby-De-La-Zouch?
Dropdown Icon

You'll need your V5C logbook in order to scrap your car in Ashby-De-La-Zouch, as well as photo ID and proof of address. If you don't have the V5C logbook, you can still scrap your car with alternative paperwork, and we'll guide you through the process so everything is handled compliantly and hassle free.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request a Certificate of Destruction, we'll issue it within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles all DVLA notifications automatically, and the CoD removes you from the DVLA register as the previous owner, ending your responsibility for the vehicle.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, all outstanding finance has to be settled before we can collect your car for scrap. Either that or the finance company must give their consent. Lenders keep a legal interest in the vehicle until the agreement ends, but once you confirm settlement or provide approval, we'll help you move ahead.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

We make all payments by bank transfer; we never pay cash for cars. Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, cash payments for scrap vehicles aren't allowed, and the price you're quoted is the price paid on collection, with no last-minute reductions (as long as the vehicle matches the details you provide). Keep in mind that due to tight street corners, limited passing space and high pedestrian traffic, it can be difficult to collect certain vehicles in Ashby-De-La-Zouch.

Can I keep my private number plate before scrapping?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can definitely keep your private number plate when you scrap your vehicle, but you'll need to apply to retain or transfer it before the vehicle is processed. You can use the DVLA website or fill out a V317 form to transfer the registration, and the plate will need to be removed before a Certificate of Destruction can be issued.
