We received a very competitive quote…
We received a very competitive quote from Car.co.uk for my car and from the start they were very efficient with their quote which was easy to understand. After accepting their quote they kept me fully informed of the procedure and made it clear and simple. We agreed a collection date and they arrived on time with two polite and helpful driver and assistant and they loaded my car and left very quickly. The agreed price was paid by Car.co.uk and the money was in my Bank before the driver left. I would highly recommend this Company.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

Scrap my car in Guildford FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Guildford?
Dropdown Icon

The average price paid for a scrap car in Guildford is £268, but this depends on the weight, condition, make and model of your vehicle, as well as current scrap metal prices. Whether the car has salvage value rather than being weighed in only is also taken into account. Use our quote tool to check your scrap car value and see the best prices for your vehicle.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Guildford?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be present for us to collect your scrap car in Guildford. You can ask someone else, as long as they're over 18 and have the keys, photo ID and all required paperwork ready. Our team will explain what needs to happen so the pickup goes ahead hassle free.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook, but you'll need photo ID, proof of address and supporting records such as MOT certificates and service history to help confirm ownership in its place. A missing logbook can make checks take slightly longer and delay collection and processing.

Do I need to notify the DVLA when I scrap my car?
Dropdown Icon

No, Car.co.uk handles DVLA notifications automatically during the CoD process, so you only need to provide your V5C logbook details. Once the Certificate of Destruction is issued, you're removed from the register and no longer hold responsibility for the vehicle.

Can I scrap an electric or hybrid car in Guildford?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we accept electric vehicles, hybrid cars, plug-in hybrids and mild hybrids for scrap in Guildford. Our car recycling services can handle all fuel types, including battery electric vehicles. We only use authorised treatment facilities that process ELV battery systems safely and compliantly.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Guildford?
Dropdown Icon

You'll need the V5C log book to scrap your car in Guildford, as well as photo ID and proof of address. If you don't have the V5C logbook, you can usually still proceed with alternative paperwork such as ownership or service documents. We'll guide you through the checks so everything's handled compliantly.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request one, we will issue a Certificate of Destruction within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles DVLA notifications automatically, and the CoD removes you as the previous owner from the DVLA register, ending further responsibility for the scrap vehicle.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, outstanding finance must be settled before you can scrap your car in Gloucester. The finance company can give clear consent, but keep a legal interest until the agreement ends, so contact them to see if you can resolve the balance or get permission. We'll help you with this process to keep things stress free.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

Payments are made by bank transfer, never by cash. Under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013, licensed buyers can't pay cash for cars. The price you see is the price paid on collection, with no last-minute reductions as long as the details you gave match the vehicle presented.

Do you accept commercial vehicles in Guildford?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we accept vans and light commercial vehicles in Guildford, including panel vans, pick-ups and minibuses. The quote process is the same, just enter your registration number and postcode to get a scrap car quote for the best prices. Many vans return a higher price than cars because their greater kerb weight usually means more recyclable metal. Keep in mind that collection for larger vehicles can be affected by narrow roads and low bridges, such as the Salt Box Road Bridge and the A25 Railway Bridge on Midleton Road.
