Quick Service and Instant Payment
I recently used a car scrapping service and was really impressed with how quick and straightforward the whole process was. From the moment I contacted them, everything was handled professionally. They arranged collection at a time that suited me, and the driver was polite and efficient. What really stood out was how quickly they transferred the payment — the money went straight into my bank account immediately after the car was collected. There was no hassle, no hidden fees, and everything was exactly as promised. If you’re looking for a smooth, no-stress way to scrap your car and get paid on the spot, I’d definitely recommend this service.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

A Top-Tier Car Selling Experience
I just sold my car with Car.co.uk and I have to say, the whole process was incredibly smooth. I got an online quote, and everything went exactly as they said it would. The collection was scheduled at my house, which was super convenient. The driver was a true professional—they were not only efficient but also very kind. As soon as the car was collected, the payment landed in my bank account immediately, which was a fantastic surprise. I highly recommend Car.co.uk for anyone looking to sell their car without any hassle.

They do what they say they do. Excellent.
I was contacted well in advance regarding the collection of my vehicle. Steve the driver phoned me and asked if he could collect sooner than booked. This was OK with me. When he arrived he was friendly and courteous and because of the advanced notification, gave me time to have everything ready for the handover. The money was transferred to my account within minutes. A great service and one that I would recommend to anyone wanting to dispose of a vehicle.

Scrap my car in Newark FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Newark?
Dropdown Icon

The average price paid in Newark for a scrap car is £269. Your final price depends on weight, condition, make, model, current metal prices, and whether the vehicle has more value as salvage than scrap. The easiest way to find out is to use our scrap tool. It takes only seconds and will give you a clear idea of what your vehicle is worth.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Newark?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be present for the collection of your scrap car in Newark. If you're out around places such as Newark Castle or elsewhere in the area, you can nominate another adult aged 18 or over to meet the driver instead, as long as they have access to the vehicle and the required paperwork or identification.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook. We'll usually ask for photo ID, proof of address, and any supporting paperwork such as MOT certificates or service history to help confirm ownership. The checks can take slightly longer while the details are verified, but missing the logbook doesn't always stop collection.

Can I scrap an electric or hybrid car in Newark?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, Car.co.uk accepts electric cars, hybrid vehicles, plug-in hybrids and mild hybrids in Newark. All fuel types are covered, with authorised treatment facilities managing battery handling and other safety checks as part of the approved end-of-life vehicle process. It's a simple way to sell your car with Car.co.uk, with coverage for all types of vehicle and free car collection.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

Payment is made by bank transfer rather than cash, in line with the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. The price agreed at quotation is the price paid on collection, with no last-minute reductions, and the money is transferred once the vehicle handover and final checks have been completed. We're not only the best place to scrap your car in Newark because we offer the best price for your vehicle, but because we provide a safe and compliant service.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Newark?
Dropdown Icon

Most of the time, you'll need your V5C log book to scrap your car in Newark, along with a photo ID and proof of address. Having your V5C logbook ready usually helps the process move faster. If the log book is missing, you can still scrap the vehicle and we'll guide the paperwork needed to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can request a Certificate of Destruction, which is normally issued within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles the DVLA notification automatically, and once the CoD has been issued, the vehicle is removed from your name on the DVLA register so you no longer have any further responsibility for it.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, outstanding finance must normally be settled before a vehicle can be scrapped, unless the finance company gives permission. The lender keeps a legal interest in the car until the agreement ends, so speak with the finance provider first and we'll help you understand what happens once everything has been cleared.

Do you accept commercial vehicles in Newark?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we accept vans and light commercial vehicles in Newark, including panel vans, pick-ups and minibuses. The quote process is the same; simply enter your registration number and postcode, and many commercial vehicles can return a higher price due to their greater kerb weight, particularly those used around busy routes such as the A1, A46 and A17 that have provided an incredibly useful service during their lifetime.

What is the difference between scrapping and salvaging?
Dropdown Icon

Scrapping and salvaging are two different options depending on the condition and value of the vehicle. Scrapping involves dismantling the car and recycling materials such as metal under the ELV directive, while salvaging looks at whether the vehicle or its parts can still be reused or sold. Car.co.uk checks both routes to help find the best outcome for each vehicle.
