Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

First class company
There's a very good reason why this company has such a high trust pilot rating, and it's not because of bots or ai fake reviews!! It's nice to leave a good review for a genuinely well run and professional outfit. Firstly , they offer the best price. Secondly , no sucking in of air or false advertising, put in reg, they give you a price, simple.... The pick up driver Shaun was very polite, concise and to the point. From begining to end a good experience, and a well deserved reputation.

Great service
I recently had my old car collected and I couldn’t be happier with the service. From start to finish, everything was handled smoothly and I was kept informed throughout the whole process. The driver, Roy, was excellent – really friendly, professional, and informative, which made the whole experience easy and stress-free. The payment was transferred instantly upon collection, which was a huge plus. Overall, a fantastic service and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to scrap their car.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Chard?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be there for us to collect your scrap car in Chard. You can ask someone else to meet the driver on your behalf, as long as they're over 18 and have photo ID, access to the vehicle, and all the required paperwork.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook, but you'll need photo ID, proof of address, and supporting documents such as MOT certificates or service history in its place. Checks will likely take slightly longer before collection and payment can be arranged if you don't have the logbook.

Which areas of Chard do you cover?
Dropdown Icon

We cover all postcodes within Chard, including areas such as Avishayes, Combe, Crimchard, Holyrood, and Jocelyn. Free collection is available from any address, but keep in mind that narrow roads, such as residential cut-throughs like Crimchard and Glynswood, can affect recovery.

Can I scrap a SORN vehicle in Chard?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, a SORN vehicle can be scrapped in Chard. Vehicles don't need to be taxed or insured to qualify for our car collection service, but they mustn't be driven on a public road, so we'll need to collect it from a private or off-road address. A Certificate of Destruction removes the SORN automatically.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request one, we'll issue a Certificate of Destruction within 7 days of processing. We'll also notify the DVLA. Once issued, the CoD removes the previous owner from the DVLA register, ending further responsibility for the vehicle.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, all outstanding finance must be settled before you can scrap your car. Lenders retain a legal interest in vehicles they finance, so check the agreement, contact the provider for permission, and we'll help you move to the next step.

Do I need to notify the DVLA when I scrap my car?
Dropdown Icon

No, Car.co.uk will notify the DVLA during the Certificate of Destruction process. You just need to provide your V5C logbook details. Once the CoD has been issued, the previous owner is removed from the register, and responsibility for the vehicle ends.

Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can keep your private number plate, but you'll need to organise retention or transfer with the DVLA before the vehicle can be scrapped. Registration needs to be removed before a Certificate of Destruction can be issued. You can apply online at the DVLA website or by filling out a V317 form.
