A Top-Tier Car Selling Experience
I just sold my car with Car.co.uk and I have to say, the whole process was incredibly smooth. I got an online quote, and everything went exactly as they said it would. The collection was scheduled at my house, which was super convenient. The driver was a true professional—they were not only efficient but also very kind. As soon as the car was collected, the payment landed in my bank account immediately, which was a fantastic surprise. I highly recommend Car.co.uk for anyone looking to sell their car without any hassle.

Outstanding service A*****
The process was very straightforward, the vehicle was collected on the day agreed - I received a call when the driver was 30 minutes away. The driver 'Darren' was knowledgeable and a complete professional. All inspections carried out, documents sorted and on his pick up in under 30 minutes. The money was processed to my bank very shortly after. Will definitely recommend and would not hesitate using your company again.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

Scrap my car in Banstead FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Banstead?
Dropdown Icon

The average price paid for scrap cars in Banstead is £264. Scrap car value depends on weight, condition, make, and model, current scrap metal prices, and whether salvage would return more than pure scrap. Cars with reusable parts or strong demand often earn better prices, so enter your registration and postcode for a scrap car quote in under 30 seconds.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Banstead?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be there when we collect your scrap car in Banstead. You can ask an adult aged at least 18 to hand the vehicle over for you, they'll just need the keys, the required documents, and your permission.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car with no V5C logbook, but in its place you'll need photo ID, proof of address, and supporting paperwork such as MOT certificates or service history to prove ownership. The scrapping process will take slightly longer before collection and payment are approved in this case.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

Payment for scrap vehicles is always made by bank transfer, never in cash. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 prohibits paying cash for cars. The price you see is the price paid on collection, with no last-minute reductions as long as the vehicle matches the details you entered.

Do you accept commercial vehicles in Banstead?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we accept vans and light commercial vehicles in Banstead, including panel vans, pick-ups, and minibuses. The quote process is the same as for any other vehicle; just enter the car registration number and your postcode. Many commercial vehicles earn more because their greater kerb weight usually means there's more recyclable material. Keep in mind that recovery of larger vehicles can be affected by narrow roads, such as Woodmansterne Street, and low bridges.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Banstead?
Dropdown Icon

You'll need your V5C log book, photo ID, and proof of address to scrap your car in Banstead. If you don't have the V5C, you can usually still proceed with alternative paperwork such as MOT certificates or service history. We'll guide you through everything so the transaction stays compliant and hassle free.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request a Certificate of Destruction, we can issue one within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles DVLA notifications automatically, and the CoD removes you as the previous owner from the DVLA register, which means you're no longer responsible for the vehicle.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, any outstanding balance will need to be cleared before you can scrap a financed car. Lenders keep a legal interest in the car until the agreement ends, so check with them and ask for permission, and we'll help you with the next steps.

Can I keep my private number plate before scrapping?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can keep your private number plate when you scrap your car, but you'll need to go through the "retain my reg" process beforehand. Apply online through the DVLA website or by filling out a V317 form. The plate must be removed from the vehicle record before any Certificate of Destruction can be issued.

What is the difference between scrapping and salvaging?
Dropdown Icon

Scrapping is when a vehicle is dismantled and recycled mainly for metal value under the ELV directive. Salvaging is when the car still has enough value to be resold whole or broken down for parts. Car.co.uk always considers both routes to choose the best outcome for the owner.
