Why choose Car.co.uk to find scrap car dealers on the Isle of Wight?

Great service from beginning to end

The scrap car industry might not be one that you automatically associate with great service – but at Car.co.uk, we’re making a big effort to change that. In fact, we’ve built our entire service to ensure amazing customer care through every step.

That starts with the quotes we provide. Our unique was of comparing prices means that with your postcode and registration we’ll find you an outstanding valuation instantly.

Then, we’ll provide a free collection service for your vehicle. We realise that many scrap cars are not suitable for the road – so we’ll collect it from your location without any charge.

When the car’s ready to leave, you’ll even be supported to wrap up your V5C paperwork, so you can send it back to the DVLA and be confident that your legal responsibility for the car is all wrapped up.

Support for some of the UK’s best-loved charities

Generally, the Isle of Wight sees far fewer accidents each year than other counties – but road traffic collisions on the island still cost the local council over £30 million annually.

At Car.co.uk, we feel like cars damaged in accidents like these should be used to give something back to local communities and good causes.

When you scrap your car using our service, the funds that it generates for our business help us to invest in our social value program, a way of working that sees a portion of our revenue donated to charities and good causes that help people across the country.

Frequently asked questions

Worried about your paperwork? Not sure about collection? No problem – we’ve covered a few common questions and answers here.

Yes, we can. Since our scrap partners often move and recycle vehicle that have been involved in bad accidents, they can easily handle a car that doesn’t have keys.

To declare your car as SORN, you’ll need to use the DVLA’s online system. It’s important that you make sure you read the conditions that relate to SORN cars carefully – as using one on the road when you shouldn’t may mean you face prosecution.

If you need to change your mind about a quote, we just ask that you let us know as soon as possible. Sometimes, our scrap dealers can travel a long way for specific car – and may even need to book ferry crossings; so we’ll need to cancel your collection before any cost is incurred.

Yes, we do. Many of the vehicles we handle have been involved in serious accidents – so missing or badly damaged parts are not generally a problem.

You could – but it’s better not to. Although the DVLA will accept a letter confirming the transfer of the car to a scrap yard, it’s easier to simply complete section 9 of the log book and return it to the DVLA address on the rear. On some newer log books (issued after April 2019) it will be section 4 you need to complete.

Yes, it is – although ATF scrap yards follow very strict procedures and standards around how they handle scrap materials. As such, the DVLA will only allow ATF scrap yards to carry out their official scrapping process.
