The process was very straightforward, the vehicle was collected on the day agreed - I received a call when the driver was 30 minutes away. The driver 'Darren' was knowledgeable and a complete professional. All inspections carried out, documents sorted and on his pick up in under 30 minutes. The money was processed to my bank very shortly after. Will definitely recommend and would not hesitate using your company again.

Scrap my car in Isle of Wight FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Isle of Wight?
Dropdown Icon

£182 is the average local scrap price in our Isle of Wight data. Final car value varies with weight, condition, make, model, metal rates and reusable parts. Use your car registration and postcode to check scrap car prices, see the price for your scrap and judge whether the result gives you the best scrap car deal available today.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Isle of Wight?
Dropdown Icon

No, you can arrange collection in Isle of Wight without being there personally. Nominate an adult aged 18 or over who can access the car and present the agreed paperwork and photo ID. Tell us who is meeting the driver beforehand so collection can be completed securely without delays that day.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, a missing V5C logbook does not automatically stop you scrapping the car. Photo ID and proof of address are needed, plus evidence linking you to the vehicle, such as an MOT certificate, service records or receipt. Allow extra time for ownership checks before collection.

Do I need to provide keys for my car?
Dropdown Icon

No, missing keys do not automatically prevent collection. Recovery equipment can often load a car without them, provided access is suitable. Tell us about the missing keys before booking so the collection partner can plan the right equipment and approach for the pickup, avoiding delays when the driver arrives.

How long does it take to scrap my car in Isle of Wight?
Dropdown Icon

Same-day or next-day collection is often available on the Isle of Wight, depending on local slots and vehicle access. You can get a price online in 30 seconds, choose a suitable collection time and receive payment at pickup. Ferry movements can occasionally affect scheduling locally. If a vehicle is difficult to move, mention this when booking so suitable equipment can be planned before arrival.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Isle of Wight?
Dropdown Icon

You normally need the V5C logbook, photo ID and proof of address. If the logbook is missing, collection may still be possible once other ownership evidence is checked. Service records, receipts or an MOT certificate can help support the connection to the vehicle before collection is approved locally by the team.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, eligible vehicles that are actually scrapped receive a Certificate of Destruction. It records the car's entry into the end-of-life process, and the related DVLA update removes the former keeper from the official vehicle record so they are no longer responsible.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, a financed vehicle cannot normally be scrapped until the agreement is settled or the lender agrees in writing. Because the finance company still has a legal interest, ask it for a settlement figure or disposal consent first. After clearance, the usual quote and collection process can continue without avoidable delay.

Do you accept commercial vehicles in Isle of Wight?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we take light commercial vehicles and vans on the Isle of Wight, including panel vans, pick-ups and minibuses. Use the normal registration and postcode quote process. Because kerb weight, reusable parts and condition affect valuation, some heavier commercial vehicles can return more than smaller cars in the local market.

Do I need to notify the DVLA when I scrap my car?
Dropdown Icon

No, you do not normally need to notify the DVLA yourself when Car.co.uk handles the approved scrapping paperwork. Provide the required keeper details, and the final documentation confirms the vehicle has left your responsibility once processing is complete and recorded.
