First class company
There's a very good reason why this company has such a high trust pilot rating, and it's not because of bots or ai fake reviews!! It's nice to leave a good review for a genuinely well run and professional outfit. Firstly , they offer the best price. Secondly , no sucking in of air or false advertising, put in reg, they give you a price, simple.... The pick up driver Shaun was very polite, concise and to the point. From begining to end a good experience, and a well deserved reputation.

Very easy transaction.
Very easy transaction. Easy to book, collection person phoned to say exactly what time they were arriving. I just left him to it and collection took around 10 mins including taking photos of my id and the car. Sad to see my car go as its been a really good car but too much wrong with it now. Payment was not immediate, took around an hour and a half. No fuss, no sweat, very easy.

Highly recommend - 10/10 service
Whole process was really easy and completely fuss free from start to finish. Entered my postcode and registration online and was given a price straight away without having to sign up to anything. The price offered was better than anywhere else. Selected a date and time that suited me for collection and booked in a matter of minutes. Really clear information was given about the collection process via email. Collection day arrived and the guy who came was really friendly. Quick check of the car, loaded onto the truck and received the money within minutes. I would highly recommend this company as it was so easy, no hidden terms and conditions and an all round great experience.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

Scrap my car in Tyne and Wear FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Tyne and Wear?
Dropdown Icon

The average price for a scrap vehicle in Tyne and Wear is £241. Your car value depends on weight, condition, make, model, current metal rates and reusable parts. Enter your car registration and postcode to compare scrap car prices, check the price for your scrap and decide whether the offer gives you the best scrap car result before booking collection locally today.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Tyne and Wear?
Dropdown Icon

No, you do not need to be present when we collect your car in Tyne and Wear. You can nominate an adult aged 18 or over, provided they have access to the vehicle, identification and agreed paperwork. Tell us beforehand so collection can proceed securely without unnecessary delays during the arranged handover at your chosen address.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook. You will usually need photo ID, proof of address and evidence connecting you to the vehicle, such as an MOT certificate or receipt. Ownership checks can take slightly longer before collection and payment are arranged securely through the local collection process today.

Can I scrap an electric or hybrid car in Tyne and Wear?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap an electric or hybrid car in Tyne and Wear. Battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and mild hybrids are accepted, while trained staff manage high-voltage batteries through licensed treatment and recycling processes. This keeps battery handling and final disposal aligned with required UK safety, legal and environmental standards throughout final processing.

Can I keep my private number plate before scrapping?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can keep a private number plate before the vehicle is scrapped. Apply to retain or transfer the registration through the DVLA before final processing. The plate must be removed from the vehicle record before end-of-life paperwork is completed, so arrange retention before your booked collection date to avoid unnecessary delays later on.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Tyne and Wear?
Dropdown Icon

You normally need the V5C log book, photo ID and proof of address. If the log book is missing, other ownership evidence may still be accepted after checks. We explain what to prepare before collection, so the Tyne and Wear handover remains properly recorded, straightforward and compliant without avoidable delays, extra calls, repeated paperwork, ownership queries or unnecessary confusion on the collection day.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, a Certificate of Destruction is issued when the vehicle is scrapped and eligible. It confirms the car entered the end-of-life process, while DVLA notification helps remove the previous keeper from the official vehicle record and ends further responsibility after processing.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, outstanding finance normally needs to be settled before the vehicle is scrapped, unless the lender gives clear permission. The finance company retains a legal interest until the agreement ends, so contact it for a settlement figure or written consent first. Once resolved, you can arrange collection without unnecessary delays, payment issues, legal uncertainty or later ownership complications.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

Payment is made by bank transfer, not cash. Licensed scrap buyers in England and Wales must not pay cash for scrap metal, so electronic payment keeps the transaction traceable. The agreed amount is transferred after collection checks, provided the vehicle matches the description given, into your nominated bank account safely and securely.

Can I scrap a car that is not registered in my name?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car that is not registered in your name, but you need authority to dispose of it. Written permission from the registered keeper is best, while a gift, inheritance or deceased estate may require photo ID and supporting paperwork such as a letter, will or statutory declaration. We can explain what evidence is needed before booking and collection anywhere across Tyne and Wear, keeping the handover properly documented.
