Quick Service and Instant Payment
I recently used a car scrapping service and was really impressed with how quick and straightforward the whole process was. From the moment I contacted them, everything was handled professionally. They arranged collection at a time that suited me, and the driver was polite and efficient. What really stood out was how quickly they transferred the payment — the money went straight into my bank account immediately after the car was collected. There was no hassle, no hidden fees, and everything was exactly as promised. If you’re looking for a smooth, no-stress way to scrap your car and get paid on the spot, I’d definitely recommend this service.

We received a very competitive quote…
We received a very competitive quote from Car.co.uk for my car and from the start they were very efficient with their quote which was easy to understand. After accepting their quote they kept me fully informed of the procedure and made it clear and simple. We agreed a collection date and they arrived on time with two polite and helpful driver and assistant and they loaded my car and left very quickly. The agreed price was paid by Car.co.uk and the money was in my Bank before the driver left. I would highly recommend this Company.

Highly recommended !!
Car.co.uk offered the best price by far out of all the sites I had got quotes from. The whole process was really easy to arrange and sort out a collection. I had a few enquiries and the different guys that I spoke to at customer enquiries was really friendly and helpful. I asked for an early/ first pick up and was told they would do their best. The night before I received a text asking if a 6:30am pick up would be possible. I agreed. Earlier the better for me. The morning of the pick up I had a call from the driver (John) who informed me he wasn’t far and sure enough he arrived on the agreed time. When he arrived he was so helpful and really friendly. The car was on the back of the lorry and paperwork sorted all within 15 mins. Can’t recommend these guys enough and I would definitely use again.

Scrap my car in Redcar FAQs

How much is my scrap car worth in Redcar?
Dropdown Icon

The average price paid in Redcar for a scrap car is £244, but your final price depends on weight, condition, make, model, current metal prices and whether the vehicle has salvageable parts rather than only scrap value. Cars used for daily journeys around the A174 and wider Teesside area can vary greatly in age, mileage and condition, so every vehicle is assessed individually. Enter your registration to compare live scrap car prices and get a quote in under 30 seconds.

Do I need to be present for the collection in Redcar?
Dropdown Icon

No, you don't have to be present for collection of your scrap car in Redcar. If you're visiting Kirkleatham Museum or have other plans during your collection slot, you can nominate another adult aged 18 or over to hand the vehicle over. They'll need photo ID, access to the car and any agreed paperwork, so the driver can complete collection without delays.

Can I scrap a car without a V5C logbook?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car without a V5C logbook in many cases. We'll usually ask for photo ID, proof of address and supporting records such as MOT certificates or service history to help confirm ownership. The checks can take slightly longer, but we'll guide you through what's needed before collection is approved.

Do you accept commercial vehicles in Redcar?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we accept vans and light commercial vehicles in Redcar, including panel vans, pick-ups and minibuses. The quote process is the same, just enter your registration number and postcode. Many vans return a higher price than cars because their greater kerb weight usually means more recyclable metal. Some commercial vehicles have spent years supporting the local area, whether carrying tools for tradespeople, making deliveries for businesses across Teesside, or helping companies travel between Redcar, Middlesbrough and surrounding areas. When they reach the end of their working life, they can still hold significant recycling value.

How does scrap car payment work?
Dropdown Icon

Payment is made by bank transfer, not cash, and the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 requires this method for scrap vehicle transactions. The price you see is the price paid on collection, with no last-minute reductions, as long as the vehicle matches the details provided when you booked.

What documents do I need to scrap my car in Redcar?
Dropdown Icon

You'll need your V5C logbook to scrap your car in Redcar, along with photo ID and proof of address. Bringing your V5C logbook helps us process everything faster, but if the paperwork is missing, you can still proceed in many cases. We'll guide you through the ownership checks and paperwork needed before collection.

Will I receive a Certificate of Destruction?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, if you request one, we issue a Certificate of Destruction within 7 days of processing. Car.co.uk handles the DVLA notification automatically, and once issued, the CoD removes the previous owner from the DVLA register, meaning further responsibility for the vehicle ends.

Can I scrap a car with outstanding finance?
Dropdown Icon

No, outstanding finance must be settled first unless the finance company gives clear consent for disposal. Lenders keep a legal interest in the vehicle until the agreement ends, so the next step is to contact the provider, confirm the settlement balance and arrange collection once you're authorised to proceed.

Can I scrap a car that is not registered in my name?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a car that isn't registered in your name, but conditions apply. The registered keeper should provide written authority where possible, or you'll need a legitimate reason for possession, such as a gift, inheritance or deceased estate. Supporting paperwork may include a will, gift letter or statutory declaration, alongside proof of identity, and Car.co.uk can advise before booking.

Can I scrap a SORN vehicle in Redcar?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, you can scrap a SORN vehicle in Redcar, and it doesn't need to be taxed or insured for collection. A SORN car must not be driven on a public road, so we'll collect it from a private or off-road address. Once processed, the Certificate of Destruction handles the DVLA notification, removes the SORN status automatically and confirms the vehicle has been disposed of correctly. Find out quickly what your vehicle is worth with our quote tool.
