We received a very competitive quote…
We received a very competitive quote from Car.co.uk for my car and from the start they were very efficient with their quote which was easy to understand. After accepting their quote they kept me fully informed of the procedure and made it clear and simple. We agreed a collection date and they arrived on time with two polite and helpful driver and assistant and they loaded my car and left very quickly. The agreed price was paid by Car.co.uk and the money was in my Bank before the driver left. I would highly recommend this Company.

Quick, easy, great service, decent price.
Organised it to be collected, driver (Tony) was in contact throughout the collection day to keep me posted. 10 minutes and I was paid and he was gone! Great service, Tony was very friendly and efficient. Definitely will use this service again in the future, been with WeBuyAnyCar a few times and for convenience, this blows them out of the water (all circumstantial of course). Couldn’t have asked for more, really helpful.

Scrap your Volvo FAQs

How much is my Volvo car worth to scrap in the UK?
Dropdown Icon

Most Volvos scrap for somewhere between £120 and £550, but there’s no single “right” figure, since factors like weight matters, as well as parts like catalytic converters and engines. Market prices change weekly, sometimes daily. That’s why a live quote matters - it locks a price before metal values move underneath you. Whatever quotes we give you are also guaranteed for 7 days so that both parties are protected against any fluctuations in the scrap metal market.

What are the most common mechanical problems that cause Volvos to be scrapped?
Dropdown Icon

Gearbox failures, turbocharger issues, electrical faults, diesel DPF problems - those are all fairly frequent deal-breakers here. None are cheap fixes, either. Once labour and parts are added, especially on higher-mileage cars, most owners we see often decide the repair stress isn’t worth it and choose to scrap instead.

Do scrap yards pay more for Volvos because of their weight or parts?
Dropdown Icon

Often they do - Volvos tend to be heavier than average, which helps you in terms of scrap value. Catalytic converters, engines and gearboxes can also boost prices if they’re recoverable. That said, payouts still depend on live metal rates, so getting a current quote matters more than assumptions.

If my Volvo fails its MOT, should it be scrapped or repaired?
Dropdown Icon

Scrapping avoids sinking more cash into something that may fail again next year if repairs creep past the car’s resale value. It usually comes down to maths and patience. Suspension, brake corrosion or emissions faults can stack up quickly on older Volvos. A quote helps you compare real options, which you can get for free at Car.co.uk.

Are older Volvo models uneconomical to fix?
Dropdown Icon

Sometimes, yes - even though Volvos last a long time. That’s because as cars age, labour costs rise faster than the vehicle’s value. Parts availability can also push prices up. So, when repairs start rivalling what the car’s actually worth, scrapping can be a far more predictable decision.
