Quick and Convenient Vehicle Scrappage
This was a quick and easy way to scrap our old vehicle. The online evaluation check was useful and produced a similar price to what we expected. It only took a few moments to book a collection date and time, and this was confirmed via text and email. On collection day I was texted further confirmation and called by the driver to inform of his eta. The driver was informative and professional. The purchase was accepted and the payment okayed, with the money transferred immediately. Overall, and great service and would recommend.

We received a very competitive quote…
We received a very competitive quote from Car.co.uk for my car and from the start they were very efficient with their quote which was easy to understand. After accepting their quote they kept me fully informed of the procedure and made it clear and simple. We agreed a collection date and they arrived on time with two polite and helpful driver and assistant and they loaded my car and left very quickly. The agreed price was paid by Car.co.uk and the money was in my Bank before the driver left. I would highly recommend this Company.

Highly recommend - 10/10 service
Whole process was really easy and completely fuss free from start to finish. Entered my postcode and registration online and was given a price straight away without having to sign up to anything. The price offered was better than anywhere else. Selected a date and time that suited me for collection and booked in a matter of minutes. Really clear information was given about the collection process via email. Collection day arrived and the guy who came was really friendly. Quick check of the car, loaded onto the truck and received the money within minutes. I would highly recommend this company as it was so easy, no hidden terms and conditions and an all round great experience.

Scrap Proton statistics in the UK

bulb-icon

The youngest Proton we’ve scrapped is a Satria Neo that was 12 years old (first registered in 2013). This is by no means the youngest vehicle we’ve ever scrapped (a 2-year-old Ford Fiesta).

bulb-icon

The oldest Proton we’ve scrapped was a Proton Persona GLS from 2000, making it 25 years old. This is the joint youngest age in this category among the other makes we’ve scrapped.

bulb-icon

The most popular engine size of our scrapped Protons was 1149cc, which is well below our average size of 1735cc and the UK average of 1600cc. This may not impact your scrap price, however.

bulb-icon

The average kerb weight of Protons we have scrapped in the UK is just 1080 kilograms, making it the second lightest car make we have scrapped. This is significant, considering lightest car was a Smart car.

Scrap your Proton FAQs

Do I need the V5C logbook to scrap my Proton?
Dropdown Icon

You don’t strictly need your V5C logbook to scrap your Proton, as long as you can show you own it and it isn’t flagged. We’ll tell you what to do with the DVLA and handle all the paperwork for you once a collection is booked, so the car’s status is closed properly.

What paperwork should I expect after my Proton is scrapped?
Dropdown Icon

After your Proton has been scrapped, you’ll get a Certificate of Destruction (CoD), either digital or via the post - we’ll be happy to provide you with one.

What should I do before the driver arrives to collect my Proton?
Dropdown Icon

Before collection, clear out any of your personal stuff - sunglasses, tools, kids’ seats, etc. It sounds obvious, but people forget when they’re rushing. You don’t need to remove number plates unless you want to keep them, in which case you need to fill in a DVLA retention form. If the Proton has fuel in it, leave it; don’t try to drain the fluids yourself.

Can you collect my Proton if it doesn’t start?
Dropdown Icon

Yes, we can collect your Proton even if it doesn’t start. If your Proton won’t start, has a dead battery, or has been sitting around for months, that’s fine. Just mention it when you book so the right truck turns up. No keys can be trickier, but it’s still possible depending on access and documentation. We’ll be upfront about what works. If it can roll and steer, we can load it onto our truck, even if it won’t start.

What if I need to change my Proton’s collection booking?
Dropdown Icon

If you need to change your Proton’s collection booking, just let us know as soon as possible, and we’ll try to rearrange it quickly. Sometimes we can swap the day; sometimes it’s the next available slot in your area. Once you’re ready to scrap it, get a free quote at Car.co.uk to get the ball rolling.
