When our partner arrives to collect your Land Rover for scrap, you will both need to complete section 9 of the V5C. This must be sent to the DVLA. It confirms that you are selling or transferring your vehicle to a motor trader, insurer or dismantler. It is the seller’s responsibility, but the collection partner recovering your vehicle will happily assist you and check your paperwork.

ATF is short for Authorised Treatment Facility – another name for a vehicle scrapyard, breaker’s yard or dismantler. An authorised facility follows legal guidelines to ensure vehicles go through a depollution process before parts are disposed of or recycled.

A Certificate of Destruction (COD) is issued by the DVLA and sent to the Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) that scraps your car. At Car.co.uk, all of our collection partners meet government ATF approval. You should let us know that you require a COD when requesting a valuation. Our collection partner will send you a copy of your certificate when your car has been scrapped.

If your car is not being driven or kept on the road, you may be able to make a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN). You can do this by contacting the DVLA, either by post or online.

For scrap purposes, the value of a car is based on its weight, and because different cars weigh different amounts, this means that the price varies. To help you maximise the value of your car, we get prices from a number of different Land Rover scrap dealers, and because some specialise in certain makes and models, they will often offer a higher price.

ELV is short for End of Life Vehicle. ELV describes any vehicle that can no longer be used or economically repaired, as a result of wear and tear or damage. End of life vehicles are dismantled, depolluted and recycled at authorised treatment facilities.
